Dry Tortugas National Park
The Somewhere Series // National Parks
Across the country, and in stark contrast to yesterday’s destination, let’s explore one of the least visited - Dry Tortugas National Park. That can be explained merely by lack of accessibility though, as the location itself is famous for its history, unique ecology, and stunning natural beauty. 70 miles west of Key West, and only accessible by boat or seaplane, this 100-square mile park is mostly open water with seven small islands. It’s known the world over as the home of magnificent Fort Jefferson, picturesque blue waters, superlative coral reefs and marine life, and the vast assortment of bird life that frequents the area.
Check my store for individual items and details about each park. A special note that 50% of sales from all prints featured in my National Parks series this month will be donated to the National Parks Foundation, which raises private funds to support the National Park Service and the 400+ national parks, helping to fund projects and programs that protect landscapes, wilderness, historical sites, and places of cultural significance. I’ll include some very sweet maps and prints relating to each park, so lots of options! Help me help them! Prints run $12-$25 depending on sizes available.
Prints celebrating Dry Tortugas National Park include vintage illustrated corals, ships, and seashells, turtles, and a 1763 Florida map.
Beyond prints, if you’re looking to decorate in a seaworthy or nautical vibe, look for seascape paintings, brass shells and boats, vintage books, and sea life figurines.
